Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdic signed the Southeast Europe Transport Community Treaty on Monday in Brussels.
Media reported that by signing the Transport Community Treaty, BiH has gained access to BAM 500 million for implementation of four infrastructural projects. Zvizdic told Sarajevo-based daily Oslobodjenje that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be given funds for financing construction of three sections of the Corridor 5c, on the territory of the entire country.
“The Transport Community Treaty we signed today (Monday) is very important - because in the future it will mean accepting the EU acquis in the sector of transport, harmonization of our transport with the EU standards, strengthening of transport infrastructure in BiH and better connectivity of the Western Balkans region with Europe, which means more possibilities for our economy and export, and faster transport of goods and people”, Zvizdic said.
EU Commissioner for Transportation Violeta Bulc underlined that the efforts of authorities in BiH, as well as High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, have resulted in BiH signing the Transport Community Treaty, as the last country in the region to do so.
She praised the Council of Ministers of BiH for deciding to put the country and its future above everything else, despite the complex situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
