Museum dedicated to the cult film ‘Valter brani Sarajevo’ (‘Valter Defends Sarajevo’) was opened last Saturday in Sarajevo.

The 1972 film by director Hajrudin Krvavac depicts the anti-fascist struggle of the Resistance Movement in the Nazi-occupied Sarajevo led by hero Vladimir Peric Valter.

The film was extremely popular not only in former Yugoslavia, but also to China, and according to some estimates, more than a billion people have seen the film so far. Creators of the museum hope that it will help attract more Chinese tourists to Sarajevo.

Last year, more than 30,000 Chinese tourists visited Bosnia and Herzegovina. The numbers significantly increased after the introduction of visa-free regime.

The museum features wax figures, recreations of the set and other displays which fans of the film will find interesting. It is located above the Markale market place in downtown Sarajevo.
