Tenth Ballet Fest Sarajevo will take place on September 19-25.

Event’s founder and director Edina Papo told Mostar-based daily newspaper Dnevni list that Bosnia and Herzegovina needed this kind of festival, because the country had rich tradition of traditional, amateur and professional dance.

Papo reminded that the Ballet Fest Sarajevo had attracted some really important names since the event was launched in 2010, and noted that this year’s BFS was designed to be interesting, intriguing and educational, and to raise interest in the art of ballet.

The 10th Ballet Fest Sarajevo will kick off at 1900 hrs on Thursday, September 19, with an exhibition honoring first ballet dancer in Sarajevo Riki Levi, which will be on display at the ‘Novi Hram’ gallery.

The week-long ballet festival will also provide the audience with an opportunity to enjoy performances of international ballet theater ensembles, such as Spanish ballet ensemble’s ‘Flamenco: Andró’, Serbian Bitef Dance Company’s performance of ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’, and ‘Doctor Zhivago’ by Slovenia’s SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana, on the stage of the National Theater in Sarajevo.

Festival’s program and additional information are available at the Ballet Fest Sarajevo’s official web-site (in Bosnian).
