German Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Goethe Institute will organize program to mark the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Starting on November 12, movies will be screened in the Meeting Point Cinema in Sarajevo, 13 Hamdije Kresevljakovica Street, each Tuesday at 2000 hrs.
The 2006 drama ‘Das Leben der Anderen’ (‘The Lives of Others’) by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck will be screened on November 12, and will be followed by screenings of ‘Good Bye, Lenin!’ by Wolfgang Becker on November 19, ‘Spur der Steine’ (‘Trace of Stones’) by Frank Beyer on November 26, and ‘Sonnenallee’ (‘Sun Alley’) by Leander Haußmann on December 3.
‘Das Leben der Anderen’ tells the story of high-ranking secret police officer Gerd Wiesler, who - in 1984 East Berlin - is ordered to spy on the playwright Georg Dreyman, who has escaped state scrutiny due to his pro-Communist views and international recognition, and his girlfriend, famous actress Christa-Maria Sieland. While conducting surveillance, Wiesler finds himself becoming increasingly absorbed by their lives, and starting to doubt his moral and ideological beliefs.
Entry to all movie screenings is free of charge.
