The ‘Wings for Life World Run’ is a global race for both runners and wheelchair participants. Instead of a finish line, competitors race side by side to keep ahead of the virtual Catcher Car.
Races in Mostar and Sarajevo start at exactly 1300 hrs, while the virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 14 km/h and steadily increases its speed until the last athletes have been caught.
There will be two race courses in Mostar: the first one starting in front of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Education with the University in Mostar, and the second one through the Mostar old town and over four bridges - Stari most, Titov most, Carinski most, and Lucki most. The latter track has sections which will be difficult for wheelchair users.
The race track in Sarajevo is located in Campus of the University in Sarajevo.
The main goal of the race is to raise awareness on brain stem injuries, and 100 percent of all donations and the entry fees go directly into spinal cord research projects.
Registration for the race is necessary, and participants also need to download the Wings for Life World Run App for Android or iPhone.
