The 26th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival will take place in a reduced format in an effort to protect the audience and participants, and suppress spreading of the COVID-19 pandemic. Screenings will take place only in locations where epidemiological prevention measures can be upheld.
Screening locations will have limited audience of maximum 100 visitors in outdoor locations, and up to 50 visitors in indoor locations. Audience members will be divided in several sectors, with each sector assigned a separate entrance and exit.
This year, the outdoor screenings will take place in the open air cinemas: Raiffeisen Open Air Cinema, DM Summer Screen, Safet Zajko park and Old Town summer cinema. Indoor screenings will take place in the Bosnian Cultural Center, Meeting Point Cinema, MMC Ilidza and Children’s House in Grbavica. Sports hall Skenderija will serve as alternative location for Raiffeisen Open Air Cinema and Old Town summer cinema in case of rain.
There will be no red carpet events and no screenings in the National Theater. All accompanying events and conferences will be available online to all. In order to prevent the usual crowds, audience members are advised to buy tickets online.
All visitors will have to wear face masks throughout the screenings. All parties and entertainment events which usually take place during the festival have been cancelled.
