According to media reports, Busek assessed that the EU needed to change its strategy in the Western Balkans and focus on simultaneous accession of all the countries in the region.
Busek also said that it was “pointless to play doctors” and try to fix something. “The southern part of Italy is not ready for the EU, yet it is a part of it. We urgently need the entire Balkans in the EU. Anything else would be unfair”, said Busek.
Former Austrian Vice Chancellor assessed many instruments of the EU, including the rotating chairmanship, as ‘outdated’.
