Bosnian tennis player Damir Dzumhur was knocked out of Roland Garros in the first round on Tuesday by French world number 146 Antoine Hoang.
Hoang - a 23-year-old who has never won a Grand Slam tournament main draw match - defeated Dzumhur in four sets, 6-4, 0-6, 7-6(5), 6-3, in two hours and 59 minutes.
Dzumhur seemed to have picked up some form recently, having won four matches in a row before losing to Radu Albot of Moldova in the quarterfinals of the Geneva Open a week ago.
However, Monday’s defeat reminded of Dzumhur’s poor displays earlier this year, as the 27-year-old Sarajevo-born lost eight of his ten matches before briefly coming to life in Geneva.
Hoang will play the world No. 27 Fernando Verdasco of Spain in the second round of 2019 French Open.
