A number of players from Bosnia and Herzegovina were involved in last night’s UEFA Europa League first round matches.
Edin Dzeko helped AS Roma to a convincing 4-0 victory against Turkish runners-up Istanbul Basaksehir, with a goal and an assist. Nicolo Zaniolo and Justin Kluivert were also on target for Roma, while the first goal of the game was an own goal by Brazilian defender Junior Caicara.
Another former FC Zeljeznicar striker Edin Visca played the full 90 minutes for guests, but he - like the rest of his team - was unable to do anything against solid Roma defense.
Arsenal won 3-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt, with Sead Kolasinac operating down the left flank until he was substituted in the 80th minute of the game. Unai Emery’s team saw their job becoming significantly easier one minute earlier, when Dominik Kohr was sent off for his second bookable offence. Joseph Willock, 18-year-old Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored for Arsenal.
Qarabaq, with Asmir Begovic between the posts, lost at home to Sevilla (0-3), while Gojko Cimirot played the full 90 minutes in Standard Liege’s 2-0 victory against Vitoria Guimaraes.
Mateo Susic and Senad Lulic both started on the bench for CFR Cluj and SS Lazio respectively; Lulic was the only one of the two to see some game time, as he replaced Spanish attacker Jony ten minutes from time.
Eldar Civic was an unused substitute in Ferencvaros’ draw with Espanyol.
