High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini hosted a traditional working dinner with leaders of the Western Balkan partners on the sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly in New York.
Statement issued by the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina reads that Mogherini and leaders from the region “reviewed the substantial progress that was achieved, and the tasks ahead”.
“They expressed support to opening of the EU accession negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania, underlining that this decision is of crucial importance, not just for these two countries, but for the entire region and for the EU. They all supported continuation of the Serbia-Kosovo dialogue and the early conclusion of a legally-binding agreement on normalization of relations”, the statement reads.
All the Western Balkan partners confirmed their strong commitment to the EU prospect. They stressed that the work on reforms continued, and so was the work on regional cooperation and good neighborly relations.
Mogherini and the Western Balkans leaders expressed solidarity with Albania after the country was hit by a series of strong earthquakes this weekend.
