The charity association ‘Ruku na Srce’ from Sarajevo is carrying out a charity project ‘No Child to be Left without a Gift’ together with its volunteers and donors, with the aim to provide New Year’s gifts for children from socially vulnerable families.
The gifts are intended for children of pre-school and school age from socially vulnerable families from the area of Sarajevo Canton, as well as from other areas across Bosnia and Herzegovina. This project is being implemented for the ninth year in a row, and 2,000 boxes with gifts were distributed last winter. Deadline for this year’s donations will expire on Thursday, December 12.
The project’s campaign includes collecting donations of toys, which do not necessarily have to be new as long as they are well preserved, candy, school supplies, or money. The association uses the donated items or funds to create or buy items for gift boxes to bring a smile on the face of children whose parents cannot afford to buy them such gifts.
‘Ruku na Srce’ was founded in 2011, with a mission to facilitate the daily life and hardship of life of people living in or on the verge of poverty, to give them hope for a better and brighter future, and make people happy. For years, ‘Ruku na Srce’ has been connecting people willing to help those in need.
Speaking for Pulse.ba, Spokesperson for ‘Ruku na Srce’ Adnan Lukac explained that reactions of the public had been positive and the number of donors keeps increasing each year. “We believe that the trust that our fellow citizens have been showing us for years will not be lacking this year, either. We therefore expect more than 2,000 gift boxes this winter”, Lukac noted.
Elaborating on the activities of this association, Lukac said that the main goal was to help socially vulnerable families through various projects they carry out throughout the year. “It is important to emphasize that all members of the association are exclusively volunteers. Since the founding in 2011, our team has been able to make many lives better and make many children smile. Some of our projects are: ‘Eid is a Joy for Every Child’, ‘For Her from the Heart’, ‘Let Us Equip Children for School’, ‘Something You Do Not Need is Useful to Someone’, ‘Playrooms and Socializing", and our largest project ‘No Child to be Left without a Gift’. This is exactly what gives us the inspiration, strength and energy to continue to volunteer, despite numerous private commitments towards colleges, jobs, etc. Over the past few years, more than 500 people have volunteered at the association”, said Lukac. He also invited everyone interested in volunteering in the association to enter their application online.
