Bosnian tennis player Damir Dzumhur lost to Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in the first round of the ATP Tour 250 series tournament in Montpellier.
World No. 21 prevailed in three sets, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 in two hours and 31 minutes.
Dzumhur lost his very first service game of the match, but responded immediately by breaking his opponent’s serve in the third game. Sarajevo-born three-time ATP Tour titlist then saved three break points before taking the first set 7-5 in a tie-break.
That was all from Dzumhur, however, as the 19-year-old Canadian dominated the remaining two sets, hitting nine aces and breaking five times to reach the second round of the Open Sud de France.
Dzumhur entered the main draw of the tournament by convincingly defeating France’s Quentin Halys and Elliot Benchetrit in the qualifications.
Auger-Aliassime will next meet Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert, who beat Ukrainian qualifier Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-2, 7-5.
