Mayors and heads of 58 cities and municipalities from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina have signed agreements in Sarajevo to ensure further construction and reconstruction of family homes and apartments for the most vulnerable displaced persons and returnees.

The agreements, signed within the Regional Housing Program, entail the construction and reconstruction of some 785 houses and 390 apartments in residential buildings in the municipalities included in the program.

The European Union has allocated a total of EUR 234 million, including EUR 63 million in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to finance housing projects and support the implementation of programs carried out in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia.

More than 3,200 housing units will be provided for refugees, displaced persons and returnees in Bosnia and Herzegovina until the end of the Regional Housing Program.

So far, approximately 1,500 housing units have been completed, including 1,100 houses and 400 apartments. Reconstruction and construction of the remaining 1,700 housing units is planned to be completed by the end of 2022.
