Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fadil Novalic was arrested late on Thursday evening in connection with controversial purchase of 100 respirators from China for a total of BAM 10.5 million.

Director of the FBiH Civil Protection Administration Fahrudin Solak and owner of Srebrenica-based ‘Srebrena Malina’ company Fikret Hodzic have been arrested as well.

They were interrogated earlier on Thursday in the premises of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Local media reported that Novalic, Solak and Hodzic were suspected of a number of crimes, including money laundering, abuse of office and falsification of official documents.

The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was supposed to meet on Friday morning, but the session was postponed because Deputy Prime Minister Jelka Milicevic did not want to preside over the session without the prior written approval signed by PM Novalic.
