Facebook has announced that it will launch its fact checking program in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well.
The program will be implemented in cooperation with the local web portal Raskrinkavanje.ba and Agence France Press (AFP). Similar programs have also been launched in Serbia, Montenegro and North Macedonia, while the existing program in Croatia will be further expanded.
The program means that news articles are checked by partner fact checkers, and articles flagged as fake news will be displayed on Facebook newsfeed much further down than they would normally appear. In this way, fake news and disinformation will reach less people. Fake news articles will also be clearly marked as such. This should also reduce advertisement income of web sites propagating fake news, which should discourage their activities.
