The entity of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has declared Monday a day of mourning following the tragic death of eight teenagers in Posusje on New Year's Eve. A statewide day of mourning was observed on Friday.
The teenagers were celebrating New Year in a weekend cottage near Posusje. When they failed to respond to phone calls on Friday morning, their friends broke into the cottage and found the eight teenagers (all born in 2001) dead. The presumed cause of death was asphyxiation, caused by a generator unit powered by gas. However, a toxicology test which is expected to be completed this week will confirm the cause of death with certainty.
Two of the teenagers were laid to rest on Sunday and the funeral for the other six is taking place on Monday.
