The number of overnight stays in Bosnia’s capital over a 12-month period has smashed through the one million milestone for the first time since the 1984 Winter Olympics.

President of the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Association Midhat Hubijar told media that the number of tourists and overnight stays had been constantly growing over the past several years.

According to the most recent statistical report for the first eleven months of 2018, Sarajevo has accommodated almost half a million guests, and we’ve had more than 1.1 million overnight stays, which is between 17 and 20 percent more than in the same period of 2017”, said Hubijar.

The majority of tourists arrived in Sarajevo from Turkey, Croatia, United Arab Emirates, China, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, Germany, United States, Serbia, and Italy.
