Biggest European budget airline Ryanair has announced plans to move Frankfurt-Hahn service from the Nis Constantine the Great Airport to Banja Luka.
The Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate has refused to issue a permit to Ryanair to operate new service from Frankfurt-Hahn Airport to Nis, which was due to launch on January 11, 2020.
“Ryanair’s Nis route, which was approved by the German Civil Aviation Agency, has been blocked by the Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate in favor of Air Serbia’s monopoly. Since the route does not qualify as the Public Service Obligation route, nor is it designated as such by the European Commission, it should therefore be open to competition”, reads the statement Ryanair issued on Tuesday, according to exyuaviation.com.
“Ryanair will switch this capacity to a new route from Frankfurt-Hahn to Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina which will start in February 2020”, the low cost carried said.
