With currently 292 hiking routes all around BiH there are plenty of options for outdoor enthusiasts. In total 288 hikes and 4 nature trails are waiting to be explored. We know it is hard to pick one, so here are our suggestions for you for the upcoming weekend.

Sarajevo is one of the rare capitals that is surrounded by magnificent mountains, and that is why you can reach the unspoilt nature immediately after leaving the city, just with a nice walk and get to an old-growth forest, mountain ranges and reefs, crystal clear streams and rivers and the highest waterfall in South Eastern Europe - Skakavac (98-meter-high). If you prefer to be more active and if you like to run, ‘PD Skakavac Sarajevo’ and ‘Trail mania’ will host the ‘Skakavac Trail 2020’ on September 6, Sunday and the Olympic Committee of BiH is this year’ special partner of the event. This year, participants will be running over Sarajevski Ozren and Trebevic, and trough protected areas of Skakavac, Bentbasa and Trebevic, cities of Sarajevo and Istocno Sarajevo. Others, who just want to spend their spare time breathing fresh air and chilling can visit Bjelasnica Mountain and attend the festival titled ‘Nedjelja na Bjelasnici’ hosted by the association for development and promotion of rural tourism ‘Studeni potok’ at the location of Babin do, on September 6, Sunday from 10,00hrs until 19,00hrs. This will be a one-day-long outdoor festival of food, sports and fun that includes the entire family and all generations and that aims to promote natural beauty of BiH, healthy living and active vacation. Visitors will be able to attend presentation of local and authentic food for this area, traditional agricultural products from the Bjelasnica Mountain, while children will be able to take part in various fun and sport workshops and activities. Those who like yoga will be thrilled to know that the organizers will offer a yoga workshop with capoeira masters, while those who are even more active, can take part in a guided-tour all they up to the highest peak of the Bjelasnica Mountain (2067m). Those who want to go a little bit further from Sarajevo for a hike, can take part in the hiking route titled ‘Ko nije video Hajducka vrata?’ that begins early on September 6, Sunday morning at 6,30hrs. This is a full-day tour organized by the Jablanica-based Extreme Sports Club ‘4Seasons’ that includes one of the most beautiful phenomenon in BiH on the Cvrsnica Mountain; Cvrsnica is protected under the Nature Park Blidinje and its geomorphological object in the form of an arc Hajducka vrata (2000m) is protected as the natural monument since 1985. Participants will be able to stay on this location and take photos for approximately an hour. Participation fee is BAM 35 and it includes transport from Sarajevo-Blidinje-Sarajevo and tour guide. As part of this tour, the organizers also offer the possibility for those who are interested to reach the Trinjaca peak (2038). The organizers describe the tour as technically not that demanding, but this is all-day trip and you are supposed to bring you own food and water.
